REFLECTION– THIRD WEEK OF LENT
"We walk by faith, and not by sight;
no gracious words we hear
of him who spoke as none e're spoke,
but we believe him near."
— Henry Alford - CBW III - Page 495
As Christians, when we hear those words or see them written, we sometimes question ourselves asking, " If we are really doing this, why are our lives in such turmoil?" Could it be that we are so trusting that we are not doing anything to nourish our faith? In today's gospel a cleansing is taking place and we see a different side of Jesus. Maybe it is time for our temples to have an overhaul, and a need for us to enter our own wildernesses.
Are there areas in our lives that prevent us from being fully alive? Have we become too complacent because we know that our Creator never leaves us and we don't always acknowledge this? It is not too late to experience the death of our lives as we know them today, and a rebirth of our lives with Jesus, as our wonderful example of how our lives should be lived.
Let us ask ourselves today:
- Am I fully alive in the Spirit of Jesus?
- What can I do to become an example of what it is to be fully alive in Jesus, to everyone I encounter in my daily life?
