Lent: God of Light and God of Darkness
Once you were in darkness, but now in the Lord
you are light. Live as children of the light.
Truly it is in darkness that one finds the light,
So when we are in sorrow,
Then this light is nearest to all of us.
God of Light, you are amazing! You are the light of life
connected with all that is from the very beginning. All
creation pulsate with your Divine Energy. You grace us in
Jesus to be bearers of your light— radiating your compassionate
presence for others and for the whole of creation.
We are awed and grateful, O Holy One!
O Holy Darkness, you call us beyond a fearful darkness
to the Divine Light deep within the ground of our being.
When darkness overshadows let us remember that we
are carried in the womb of your Divine Heart. In silence
we wait with trust in your healing love.
Lord Jesus, as we continue our lenten journey—
Walk with us — lead us where we dare not go.
Be our lantern, burn within us,
gentle our steps,soften our hearts—
to walk as children of the light
responding to the cry of the earth,
the cry of the poor.
